Curlewis Junior Open

In cold, albeit still conditions, the Curlewis Junior Open was played on Friday 8th July 2011 at the Curlewis Golf Club.

The Open attracted a field size of 25 players,  from 8 different Golf Clubs which included Royal Melbourne, Riversdale, 13th Beach, Barwon Valley, Clifton Springs, Bacchus Marsh, Werribee Park, Curlewis and Kooringal.

The Open, sanctioned by Golf Victoria as part of the Geoff Ogilvy trophy, brought a high class field which was reflected in the scores.

Andrew Davies from 13th Beach Golf Club upstaged Peter Babliolakis from Royal Melbourne with a fabulous gross score of 75, 3 over par.

The Curlewis Nett Champion was won by under 16 Keegan Dean who, playing off 29, shot a fabulous nett score of 69 and will see his handicap come rocketing down. In second place, Ocean Grove member, Lachlan Smith also had a wonderful nett score of 72, playing off a handicap of 20.

In the Boys’ under 16 section, Brandon Fredrickson, from Werribee Park, fired a low nett round of 72, to take the title over Matt Fowlie from Bacchus Marsh.
